Track Me If You Can
Smart LED juggling balls that can tell what is happening with them. They will tell you when they are flying in the air, you catch them in the hand, rotate them or if they are just laying on the ground. They have accelerometers and gyroscopes inside and send data over WiFi to a PC or a smartphone. It might sounds boring but wait until you find out you can play music simply by juggling as in this 360 video:

Guys behind the tech are trying get the funding for a mass production at the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform where you can support them as well: https://igg.me/at/trackmeifyoucan
The brains behind the idea is a new media artist Vojtěch Žák from Prague Czech Republic. Student of Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague and occasional Dj Jiri Balhar helped with programming and Tadeas Minha prototyped the hardware for a mass production version. Zak about the idea: “I saw smart watches, ski shoes and even bicycle lock so I thought why not juggling balls. I have been juggling since I was a kid and probably will until I will die. Putting together my field of new media with juggling was another logical step.”
However to get from the initial idea to a finished prototype it took two years. First steps involved computer vision solution (http://vojtazak.cz/rychle-trekovani-webkamerou-v-realnem-case/) done as multiuniversity research. After graduating film school Zak starts to work on developing his own hardware.
The tech will be presented at SkillCon in Las Vegas between Dec 15-17 with s special stage presentation on Sunday, Dec 17th at 2pm.
